New York City Ballet MOVES in an evening of masterpieces. New York City Ballet MOVES, the dynamic touring arm of New York City Ballet, shares the company’s incomparable repertory with audiences around the world. New York City Ballet MOVES will present George Balanchine’s expressive Sonatine set to music by Maurice Ravel, Jerome Robbins’ timeless In the Night set to nocturnes by Frederick Chopin, and Alexei Ratmansky’s acclaimed Pictures at an Exhibition to Modest Mussorgsky’s extraordinary music of the same title. Adrian Danchig-Waring is a Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet. Born in San Francisco, CA, he began his dance training at age 11 at Dance Theatre Seven, and came to the School of American Ballet in 2001. Named an NYCB apprentice in 2002, he joined the NYCB corps de ballet in 2003, was promoted to Soloist in 2009, and to Principal Dancer in 2013. His repertory includes leading roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Merce Cunningham, Justin Peck, Alexei Ratmansky, and Christopher Wheeldon, among many others. He is the Director of the New York Choreographic Institute, an affiliate of NYCB.

Ashley Hod is a New York City Ballet Soloist. Born in Great Neck, NY, she began her dance training at age 4 at the Great Neck School of Dance and came to the School of American Ballet in 2003. Named an NYCB apprentice in 2012, she joined the NYCB corps de ballet the following year and was promoted to Soloist in 2022. Her repertory includes leading roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Peter Martins, Justin Peck, Troy Schumacher, and Christopher Wheeldon.
Anthony Huxley is a Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet. Born in Walnut Creek, CA, he studied ballet at the Contra Costa Ballet School and the San Francisco Ballet School, and came to the School of American Ballet in 2003. Named an NYCB apprentice in 2006, he joined the NYCB corps de ballet in 2007, was promoted to Soloist in 2011, and to Principal Dancer in 2015. His repertory includes leading roles in works by George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Justin Peck, Alexei Ratmansky, Jerome Robbins, Troy Schumacher, Richard Tanner, Peter Walker, and Christopher Wheeldon.
Russell Janzen is a Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he began his dance training at age 6 at The Rock School and came to the School of American Ballet in 2005. Named an NYCB apprentice in 2007, he joined the NYCB corps de ballet in 2008, was promoted to Soloist in 2014, and Principal Dancer in 2017. His repertory includes leading roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, August Bournonville, Edwaard Liang, Pontus Lidberg, Peter Martins, Benjamin Millepied, Matthew Neenan, Justin Peck, Alexei Ratmansky, Troy Schumacher, Peter Walker, and Christopher Wheeldon, among others.
Lauren Lovette is a principal ballerina who danced with the New York City Ballet from 2010-2021 while alsogrowing herself as an independent and acclaimed choreographer. In her time with the NYCB she has earned boththe Janice Levin Award and the Clive Barnes Award for dance.
She has created works for the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, American Ballet Theatre’s StudioCompany, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Nevada Ballet Theater, among others. Her collaborators include musicianKate Davis, poet Andrea Gibson, and fashion designers Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim of Oscar de laRenta/MONSE, Zac Posen, Narciso Rodriguez and Victor Glemaud.
In 2019 Ms. Lovette was named Artist-in-Residence for Damian Woetzel’s prestigious Vail Dance Festival. In2018, she was awarded a Virginia B. Toulmin Fellowship for Women Leaders in Dance at The Center for Balletand the Arts at New York University.
Lauren is now the Executive Director of her new company Lauren Lovette Studio, Inc. that will bring moreawareness to the aspects of classical ballet that she believes must be preserved and celebrated. Lauren LovetteStudio, Inc. has developed an initiative named Why It Matters and has plans to bring Live performance events tovarious cities around the US and abroad. These Live experiences will all exist for the sole purpose of showcasingwhy the art form of dance matters so dearly to her and her fellow dance lovers.
Sara Mearns was born in Columbia, South Carolina, and began her dance training at the age of three with Ann Brodie at the Calvert-Brodie School of Dance, also in Columbia.
At the age of 13, Ms. Mearns trained with Patricia McBride at Dance Place, the School of North Carolina Dance Theatre, in Charlotte. She continued her studies at age 14 with Stanislav Issaev at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville.
Ms. Mearns entered the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet, full time in the fall of 2001. In the fall of 2003 Ms. Mearns became an apprentice with New York City Ballet.
As an apprentice, Ms. Mearns danced a featured role in Michel Fokine’s Chopiniana, performed by SAB as part of New York City Ballet’s 2004 winter season.
In June of 2004, Ms. Mearns joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet.
In March of 2006 she was promoted to soloist and in June 2008, Ms. Mearns was promoted to principal dancer. Learn more about Sara at her website, saramearns.com.
Tiler Peck has been a Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet since 2009. She made her Broadway debut at age 11 as Gracie Shinn inThe Music Man and was seen on Broadway as Ivy Smith in the Tony Nominated On The Town.She originated the title role in Susan Stroman’s newest musical Little Dancer at the Kennedy Center and is attached to star in the Broadway production. Tiler made her choreographic debut at the Vail Dance Festival in 2018 and has gone on to choreograph and appear in episodes of Tiny Pretty Things and Ray Donovan, and she recently choreographed the box office smash hit film John Wick 3. She has also appeared on Dancing with the Stars, the Kennedy Center Honors and Live From Lincoln Center’s The Nutcracker and Carousel. As a guest star, she was the first ballerina ever to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. In film she has starred in “Ballet Now”, a Hulu documentary that followed her as she became the first woman to curate and star in The Los Angeles Music Center’s presentation of BalletNOW, “Ballet 422”, “A Time for Dancing”, and “Donnie Darko”. She is a recipient of the Princess Grace Statue Award, The Dance Magazine Award and was named one of Forbes 30 under 30.
To keep the dance world connected during the pandemic, Tiler developed a free ballet class #TurnItOutWithTiler that airs on her Instagram. She is the designer of Tiler Peck Designs for Body Wrappers, a studio-to-streetwear clothing line and is also the designer of the capsule collection Tiler Peck X STATESIDE in collaboration with the popular Los Angeles-based clothing company. She has released two children’s books with Simon & Schuster, Katarina Ballerina and Katarina Ballerina & The Victory Dance.

Unity Phelan is a Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet. Born in Princeton, NJ, she began her dance training at age 5 at the Princeton Ballet School and came to the School of American Ballet in 2009. Named an NYCB apprentice in 2012, she joined the NYCB corps de ballet in 2013, was promoted to Soloist in 2017, and to Principal Dancer in 2021. Her repertory includes leading roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Robert Binet, William Forsythe, Lauren Lovette, Peter Martins, Andrea Miller, Matthew Neenan, Justin Peck, Alexei Ratmansky, Jamar Roberts, and Christopher Wheeldon.
Andrew Scordato is a member of New York City Ballet’s corps de ballet. Born in Sewell, NJ, he began studying ballet at age 9 at The Rock School in Philadelphia before coming to the School of American Ballet in 2002. Named an NYCB apprentice in 2005, he joined the Company as a member of the corps de ballet later in 2006. His repertory with NYCB includes leading roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Melissa Barak, Jiří Bubeníček, August Bournonville, Matthew Neenan, Peter Martins, Justin Peck, Alexei Ratmansky, Myles Thatcher, and Christopher Wheeldon.
Gretchen Smith is a member of New York City Ballet’s corps de ballet. Born in Evansville, Indiana, she began her dance training at age 7 at Evansville Dance Theatre and came to the School of American Ballet in 2003. Named an NYCB apprentice in 2005, she joined the NYCB corps de ballet the following year. Her repertory includes leading roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Melissa Barak, Christopher d’Amboise, Adam Hendrickson, Peter Martins, Justin Peck, Angelin Preljocaj, Alexei Ratmansky, Pam Tanowitz, and Christopher Wheeldon.
Andrew Veyette is a Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet. Born in Denver, CO, he began his dance training at age 9 at Dance Arts and Westside Ballet, and came to the School of American Ballet in 1998. Named an NYCB apprentice in 2000, he joined the NYCB corps de ballet later that year, was promoted to Soloist in 2006, and to Principal Dancer in 2007. His repertory includes leading roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Mauro Bigonzetti, August Bournonville, Merce Cunningham, Lauren Lovette, Peter Martins, Justin Peck, Alexei Ratmansky, Twyla Tharp, and Christopher Wheeldon.
Peter Walker is a Principal Dancer with New York City Ballet. Born in Fort Myers, FL, he began his dance training at age 8 with Judy Murray and at the Gulfshore Ballet, and came to the School of American Ballet in 2007. Named an NYCB apprentice in 2011, he joined the NYCB corps de ballet in 2012, was promoted to Soloist in 2018, and to Principal Dancer in 2022. His repertory includes leading roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Kyle Abraham, Sidra Bell, Peter Martins, Justin Peck, Jamar Roberts, Christopher Wheeldon, and in his own work, among others. He has choreographed two works for NYCB: ten in seven (2016) and dance odyssey (2018).
Indiana Woodward is a New York City Ballet Soloist. Born in Paris, France, Woodward began her dance training at age 10 at the Yuri Grigoriev School of Ballet and came to the School of American Ballet in 2010. Named an NYCB apprentice in 2012, she joined the NYCB corps de ballet that year and was promoted to Soloist in 2017. Her repertory includes leading roles in works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Robert Binet, August Bournonville, William Forsythe, Edwaard Liang, Lauren Lovette, Peter Martins, Justin Peck, Alexei Ratmansky, Gianna Reisen, Pam Tanowitz, Peter Walker, and Christopher Wheeldon.
